Scenes from the Summer Classroom: Fun and learning combined during Wildcat Summer Adventures! #LifeintheW
Ms. Rakosnik sent these photos from their Summer STEM project where students were challenged to build a tower. They used the Scientific Method, made sketches of their towers, hypothesized if the towers would withstand an earthquake, and reported out their conclusions. Great job Wildcats!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! July 1 is the official start of the 2024-2025 school year. While school doesn't start until August, the fiscal year runs July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025. As we embark on the new year together, we want to introduce you to new leaders joining our team in support of our amazing learning community. Please join us in showing these new Wildcats a warm Woodland welcome.
The Woodland D50 Board of Education will meet on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 6 p.m. If you are unable to attend the meeting in-person, you are welcome to watch it on Woodland Live.

A perfect summer day for Wildcat P.E.! Some of the students were outside playing frisbee golf, and some were inside playing tag, basketball, and playing with bouncy balls and scooters. We love to see happy kids on the move. #LifeintheW
Summer in the W: Wildcats enjoying the beautiful day by blowing bubbles and launching rockets!
Wildcat Summer Adventures: Students in Ms. Monaco's class made paper chains and used them to measure different pieces of equipment on/near the playground. They even put all of their chains together to see if the whole class was longer then the paper chains. 😄
Summer Series: What happens at the school district while students are on summer break? The Operations & Facilities Team has many projects across the district to build, paint, repair, replace, assemble and rearrange! Here are photos of the team assembling new furniture.
Go Fish! These Wildcat Summer Adventure students went fishing for math facts with poles and hooks that they made themselves. Once they hooked a fish, they had to take the fish back to their desks to solve the math problem. If they were having trouble catching a fish, they were encouraged to make adjustments to their fishing pole/hook and try to troubleshoot with a friend. The students were cheering each other on, and encouraging each other not to give up. 🎣
Only 38% of families have completed Returning Student Registration so far. Let's see how high we can get that number by the end of this week! (If you are one of the 38% - THANK YOU!)
CALL TO ACTION: This is your reminder to complete Returning Student Registration before July 15. You have less than 3 weeks to get it done. We really need your information completed in July so that we can provide all the back-to-school information you need in August!
TIP: Encourage others to do this BEFORE July 15. When registrations continue to trickle in after the deadline it impacts our ability to finalize class lists and bus routes.
Wildcat Summer Adventures: We have drones! The students built a structure, then flew a drone to inspect the structure as part of their mission today. Super fun hands on learning experience for these students. #LifeintheW
REMINDER: The district will be closed on June 19, 2024 in honor of Juneteenth. There will be no Wildcat Summer Adventures (WSA) or Extended School Year (ESY) on Wednesday, and all District and School Offices will be closed in recognition of the holiday. Summer programming will resume on Thursday.
Summer Series: Here are a few more photos of the work happening at the school district while students are on summer break. The Tech Team put out a call for volunteers to help them take inventory, clean, and update all district Chromebooks. Volunteers include teachers, staff, administrators, students, and Board of Education members. This is a big job, but many willing hands make light work! #LifeintheW
Our students might be on summer break, but the our dedicated administrators are back in the classroom Studying the Skillful Teacher!
A school district is a busy place during the summer, so we will try to share a few behind the scenes photos over the next few weeks. We have a lot to do before our Wildcats return in August!
What a week! Last Day of School TODAY! We celebrated with ROAR Raffles and our last goodbyes! We hope you had a great year (because we sure did!) and have a wonderful summer!! See ya real soon, Wildcats!
Final Week Extravaganza Day 3 was our AMAZING Field Day Wednesday! Our ROAR Assembly with Wonder Wheels was off the chain! (Literally! One cyclist broke his chain and 'scooted' up to speed for half of his stunts!) We followed that up with chilling and chatting with popsicles, outdoor games, and classroom activities! It was a FANTASTIC day!
Day 2 of our "Final Week Extravaganza"continued with Transition Day on Tuesday! Our 5th graders toured the Middle School and we welcomed the 3rd graders to Intermediate!
We kicked off the last week of school with the WILDcat Show on Monday! Our amazing students performed 4 shows and brought the house down every time! Way to go, Wildcats!
Future 6th Grade Wildcats are touring WMS! They are excited, and asking great questions.
You can also check out this podcast where 7th graders at WMS answer questions and give advice to future 6th graders 💚 https://woodlandwildcast.podbean.com/e/episode-4-advice-for-future-middle-school-students/
We are hearing from the front offices at our Woodland schools that there is some confusion about the schedule for the last few days of school. As a reminder, the school calendar was revised to account for the two emergency/snow days we utilized this winter.

Each school may have shared additional details in their weekly newsletters to help parents navigate the last few days. For example, 8th grade students had their last day of school last week. And Primary students may have a different last day depending on if they are Early Childhood or Kindergarten. Please refer to the most recent newsletter from your principal if you need additional clarification!
