Recently, Mrs. Johnson’s music room was filled with singing, drum beats, tambourine jingles, and flashing lights as the 3rd grade students prepared for their upcoming Music Concerts. This is just one of the many concert rehearsals being led by Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Roth, and Ms. Thomason.
We don’t want to give too much away, but we can tell you that these Wildcats have put so much time and hard work into rehearsing for their performances and that they have an amazing show planned!

Mrs. Danielson’s 7th grade Language Arts students read poetry selections from novelist and poet Jason Reynolds’ book, Long Way Down. Reynolds writes about the challenges faced by teenagers and young adults, as well as healthy ways to express emotions and cope with mental health. These WMS students worked on analyzing a poem as well as academic articles that related to the poem. They worked in groups to complete this analysis, then presented what they found to the rest of the class! 💚🐯📚

At Woodland Elementary, students had the opportunity to learn from Veterans during P.E. classes throughout the day. The students were able to ask questions, and share their thoughts about the significance of the day and why it is important to honor Veterans. #LifeintheW
The students and staff at Woodland Intermediate invited the special veteran in their family to attend a Veterans Day Ceremony. The event featured a selection of patriotic songs of gratitude performed by the Intermediate Choir, and the Veterans Day Writing Contest Winners read their winning entries for the audience. #LifeintheW
Woodland Primary held a Veterans Day program honoring active military members and veterans. The ceremony included a Presentation of Colors, the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, a special poem performed by students on stage, and the entire audience sang a beautiful song to thank Veterans for their service. #LifeintheW

Woodland schools will be honoring Veterans Day at all four schools. Students at WMS will see these beautiful poppies as they enter the school. The poppy is a symbol of remembrance, representing the sacrifices of those who have died or suffered in war, conflict, and peacekeeping operations. Thank you to the students in Ms. Barbknecht, Ms. Barkhurst, and Ms. Hoy's classes for this display!
Challenging young scientific minds at WMS!
Mrs. Reichert’s class recently worked on wave patterns. They used educated guesses to try and predict wave patterns, hypothesized how two waves would interact, and determined how these interaction would alter each wave. Mrs. Reichert took the time to walk around the classroom answering questions and helping her students understand the lesson. Love to see these students hard at work! #LifeintheW

It was all "hands" on deck as Elementary students helped prepare for Veteran's Day. Woodland Elementary incorporated Veterans Day into a PBIS lesson focused on respect. Each student traced and cut out two hands in which they shared ideas on how to be respectful. The flag is made up of over 3,000 hands from students, staff, and administration. That's a whole lot of High-Fives! #LifeintheW

Woodland's 4th and 5th grade students invite you to enter the world of Snow White, the seven dwarves, and the Evil Queen in this years Fall Play. But be warned, this isn't your typical Disney Snow White, this is the Brothers Grimm tale with a twist!
The Tale of Snow White is coming to the Intermediate stage at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, and Friday, Nov. 8, 2024.
Tickets available at the door. $5.00
8th Grade Social Studies students in Ms. Barkhurst, Ms. Barbknecht, and Ms. Hoy’s classes participated in a mock election today. The students first had to register to vote, and then research the candidates and issues before casting their vote. A big thank you to Ms. Barbknecht’s daughter for serving as an election judge. The students were excited to rock their “I Voted” stickers after exercising their right to vote!
REMINDER: The state of Illinois requires school districts to be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for Election Day.

Tobias the Comfort Dog recently visited Woodland Primary. He had a great time visiting classrooms and listening to students as they practiced reading. Then he had the chance to participate in the ROAR assembly with Wiley!
No one parties like Intermediate! We popped by to visit a few classes today for one final round of Fall Parties. 4th & 5th grade students closed out the week playing games, making crafts, and hanging out with friends. A special thanks to our awesome teachers and party volunteers for helping make this a day to remember! #LifeintheW
