WMS Positive School Culture Club Recognized by INSPRA
Congratulations to Mrs. Eddy, Ms. Rumi, and the WMS Positive School Culture Club!
They were selected as award recipients as part of the 2023 Distinguished Service Celebration sponsored by the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA).
The Positive School Culture Club is changing the conversation at Woodland Middle School by focusing on building connections, and highlighting the many opportunities for students to get involved at school. They have embraced the idea of “Celebration Communication” and the group is dedicated to shining a spotlight on staff and student achievement, and fostering a sense of belonging and community at WMS. In addition to attending events to cheer on their peers, they participate in acts of service to make the school a better place, and they share weekly highlights through a slideshow presentation that runs during the lunch periods. They are creating great #LifeintheW content for the weekly slideshow, and their work is regularly featured through the district website, newsletters, social media, and in the yearbook. The Positive School Culture Club is showing us that amplifying the “student voice” is a powerful way to change the narrative.
To surprise the students with news of the award, Dr. Machak attended a recent Positive School Culture Club meeting and treated the students to popsicles and ice cream! Mrs. Eddy attended the INSPRA recognition ceremony to accept the award on behalf of the club.
