The Village of Gurnee is once again sponsoring the Teacher of the Year Award to recognize teachers from Woodland District 50, Gurnee District 56, and Warren Township High School. Nomination Deadline: Jan. 27, 2025
Teacher of the Year
The Teacher of the Year award recognizes the excellent teachers who support the students in our learning community. We invite you to recognize teachers of all types such as homeroom or core subject teachers, art, music, specialists, interventionists, physical education, special education, health, computer and more. All certified staff are eligible for nomination.
Staff Member of the Year
The Woodland learning community relies on many different people to keep our district running. This recognition has traditionally been reserved for certified staff only, but the Village of Gurnee has opened up a new category to celebrate the valuable contributions of school district support staff. This nomination process will run parallel to the Gurnee Teacher of the Year contest and we are excited to expand the annual recognition program to include non-certified staff.
Teacher of the Year Timeline:
Monday, Jan. 6 - Nominations begin
Monday, Jan. 27 - Deadline to submit nominations
April 4 - School nominees and winners announced at each school
Week of April 7 - Presentation to District Winners
May 5 - Recognition at the Village of Gurnee Board Meeting
May 22 - Teacher of the Year, Staff Member of the Year, and school winners recognized at the Woodland Board of Education Meeting
