BluePoint Rapid Emergency Response System
What is BluePoint?
BluePoint Rapid Emergency Response provides a single point of notification directly to the local police department as well as all building occupants simultaneously in the event of an emergency.
What Happens When a BluePoint Pull Station or Pendant is Activated?
The following steps happen simultaneously:
Emergency Responders are notified and dispatched
All building occupants are notified by an announcement over the intercom
Flashing blue lights are visible throughout the school as a visual signal
Building occupants are notified that the building is in a lockdown, and lockdown procedures are initiated immediately.
When Should a BluePoint Pull Station be Activated?
The Police pull stations and pendants will ONLY be used for an active shooter/intruder with a weapon. The system is NOT to be used for upset individuals, raised voices, or student fights/altercations.
Who Can Activate a Pull Station?
Anyone. If you see an active threat, use the pull station to alert the police and building occupants immediately. You do not have to contact someone else to seek permission.
What if it is a False Alarm?
Local law enforcement will respond as if there is a real emergency and will work with school leaders to determine if it was a false alarm. Pull stations were strategically placed in the view of building security cameras in order to help quickly identify the circumstances surrounding the activation. If we determine that a student purposely pulls the alarm as a prank, the student will face consequences as outlined in the "Discipline: Behavior Infractions and Consequences" section of the Parent-Student Handbook.
How Will Staff and Students Become Familiar with BluePoint?
The district will incorporate BluePoint into our annual lockdown drill procedures.
