This new event welcomes parents and their kindergarten students to learn about Woodland Primary and the options for monolingual kindergarten and dual language kindergarten.  This event will have several areas of interest for parents to visit while their child engages in some activities.  

Parents will learn about language assessments/services, the Dual Language program, the lottery for Dual Language, the monolingual program, and additional resources like the PTA, the kindergarten family coordinator, and PBIS.  There will also be information and support for how to complete online registration.

Students can participate in creating a special craft, playing a math game, reading with a teacher, and other fun activities.  Students will also celebrate “signing” with Primary with a fun photo opportunity.

Sign-Up for the Dual Language Lottery
Sign-up for the Dual Language Lottery will open on March 6th, 2025, at our Wildcat Welcome event. The lottery sign-up will be available starting March 6th and will run through April 14th, 2025. The lottery drawing will take place on April 17th, 2025.

Join us at the March 6th event to learn all about our Dual Language program and what it offers. We can’t wait to see you there!

The lottery will happen on April 17, 2025.  The district uses a random number generator program to conduct the lottery. All results and a video recording of the actual lottery will be emailed to the email address provided. The email will notify you if your child has a seat in dual language. If there is a lot of interest, space may not be available for everyone. In this case, those from the lottery who are not retaining a seat will be added to the waitlist. Incoming Kindergarten children must be registered by April 14, 2025, to retain a Dual Languages spot. Please note that English-speaking students are not eligible to enter the Dual Language Program after first grade.

The Kindergarten Dual Language lottery form closes on April 14, 2025 at 4:00 PM . After April 14, 2025, click [LINK] here to add your name to the waitlist . You must complete the waitlist form if you missed the lottery but want your child to participate in Woodland's Dual Language program. Your child will be added to the waitlist in the order your form was received .

This event is for parents to attend. You will either attend the monolingual presentation or the Dual Language presentation.  Specific details about each program will be shared by a teacher panel and time will be allotted to answer questions.

This event is an open-house style event that gives families a chance to walk the entire school, take a bus ride, play on the playground, meet other families and more.  Additional community resources are present like the Gurnee Police Department, Gurnee Fire Department, the PTA, and Touch a Truck.
